Cottonwood Cove RV Resort
North Shuswap Lake, BC
Darryl managed an environmental effects assessment and completed a Riparian Areas Regulation assessment for a campground development site near the mouth of Adams River, Shuswap Lake, BC.
The project included an assessment of impacts to fish habitat from existing infrastructure (docks, buoys, boat launch, flooding, fish stranding) and effects of improvements (riparian protection areas established, bio-engineering, flood mitigation, dryland boat storage, boat launch upgrades, strata marina, etc.).
The project received federal, provincial, and municipal approvals, which included approval to dredge, and has completed construction. The strata property campground resulted in the connection of a small lake (accessible only to kayaks and canoes) to the main body of Shuswap Lake, making up for historical impacts to the forested floodplain. Park areas have been preserved through decorative fencing, resulting in an increased awareness of environmental protection and appreciation for the natural beauty of the north Shuswap.
